Even if the deep Earth sequesters an order-of-magnitude more water than is in its ocean (e.g., Marty 2012), which is by no means certain, water would still constitute at most 0.2 % of the planet’s mass. Possible constraints that these observations can place on models of giant planet formation and migration are explored.ĭespite water’s status as the second most abundant molecule in the Solar System, Earth and the rocky planets are highly desiccated worlds. However, comets may have been major sources of the noble gases accreted by Earth and Venus. CI and CM group meteorites are probably related to the most common C-type asteroids, and based on isotopic evidence they, rather than comets, are the most likely sources of the H and N accreted by the terrestrial planets. Comets formed further from the Sun than any of the meteorite parent bodies, and retain much higher abundances of interstellar material. It seems increasingly likely that the parent bodies of meteorites spectroscopically linked with the E-, S-, M- and V-type asteroids formed sunward of Jupiter’s orbit, while those associated with C- and, possibly, D-type asteroids formed further out, beyond Jupiter but probably not beyond Saturn’s orbit. The asteroidal parent bodies of meteorites formed ≤4 Ma after Solar System formation while there was still a gas disk present. In this review, we discuss the nature and probable origins of asteroids and comets based on data from remote observations, in situ measurements by spacecraft, and laboratory analyses of meteorites derived from asteroids. They are also likely the sources of most of the water and other volatiles accreted by Earth. These differences in density create movement of water or deep ocean currents that transport water from the surface to greater depths.Asteroids and comets are the remnants of the swarm of planetesimals from which the planets ultimately formed, and they retain records of processes that operated prior to and during planet formation. Warm water is less dense and colder waters are more dense. Surface waters are usually lower in density and less saline. When water is more dense, it sinks down to the bottom. The density (mass per volume) of seawater is greater than that of fresh water because it has so many dissolved substances in it. It is called the Dead Sea because so few organisms can live in its super salty water. The Dead Sea, for example, has 30% salinity-nearly nine times the average salinity of ocean water. But where there is lots of evaporation and little circulation of water, salinity can be much higher. Where ocean water mixes with fresh water, like at the mouth of a river, the salinity will be lower. Depending on specific location, the salt content or salinity can vary. Salts comprise about 3.5% of the mass of ocean water. That salt comes from mineral deposits that find their way to the ocean through the water cycle. Everyone knows that ocean water tastes salty. Perhaps the most important substance dissolved in the ocean is salt. The salts include sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, and calcium chloride. Figure 14.4: Ocean water is composed of many substances.

![]() Likely the most well-known include Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific Time Zones. In the U.S., there are a total of 9 time zones used. As a general rule of thumb, a change of 15° of longitude should result in a time difference of 1 hour. Many countries have more than one time zone. The following map displays the standard time zones across the world. As can be seen, although there is a general standard throughout the world for defining time zones, it is still highly dependent on the country, and is subject to change. Russia on the other hand, is divided into 11 time zones, though at one point this was reduced to 9 time zones. For example, China and India only use a single time zone even though they are countries that encompass far larger an area than 15° of longitude. Generally, a time change of 1 hour is required with each 15° change of longitude, but this does not necessarily always happen. Nepal, the final holdout, did not adopt a standard offset of UTC until 1956, and even then, has a less common offset of UTC+5:45. It wasn't until 1929 before most countries adopted hourly time zones. Time zones throughout the world vary, and used to vary even more than they currently do. Most commonly, UTC is offset by an hour, but in some cases, the offset can be a half-hour or quarter-hour, such as in the case of UTC+06:30 and UTC+12:45. UTC offset can range from UTC-12:00 to UTC+14:00. Generally, time zones are defined as + or - an integer number of hours in relation to UTC for example, UTC-05:00, UTC+08:00, and so on. UTC breaks time into days, hours, minutes, and seconds, where days are usually defined in terms of the Gregorian calendar. Most time zones that are on land are offset from UTC. UTC is not dependent on daylight saving time (DST), though some countries switch between time zones during their DST period, such as the United Kingdom using British Summer Time in the summer months. UTC, which is based on highly precise atomic clocks and the Earth's rotation, is the new standard of today. Although GMT used to be a time standard, it is now mainly used as the time zone for certain countries in Africa and Western Europe. Although GMT and Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) essentially reflect the same time, GMT is a time zone, while UTC is a time standard that is used as a basis for civil time and time zones worldwide. Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is the mean solar time at the Royal Observatory located in Greenwich, London, considered to be located at a longitude of zero degrees. The likes of Goodbye Volcano High, Stray, and especially the fascinating Little Devil Inside all represent a strong showing for indies in the next generation. Some of the most interesting looking, innovative games of the show were the indie titles that appeared to be taking chances and trying new things with both aesthetic and gameplay. Check out the PC games at the PlayStation 5 show, everything at the PC Gaming Show, and all the trailers from the Xbox showcase, for starters.I know some folks have complained about the amount of time that indies in yesterday’s PS5 Future of Gaming event received, but I’m personally thrilled to see their inclusion. Little Devil Inside was one of the more interesting announcements to come out of the last week or so of NotE3 events, and I'm looking forward to seeing it again with some new and improved (or straight-up removed) designs. While I never thought I'd read a sentence that said "tweak the dart blower so it looks less like a joint", it's good to see the developers take in and understand important feedback, and just get on with changing it. On a minor note, this is our first game title and we are still quite naive in many areas." Tweak the dart blower so it looks less like a joint. We will be making the following fixes to the current characters but if it ends up not being suitable to the game as a whole, we may change the design entirely."Ĥ. However, regardless of our intentions, if any people were offended in any way, we sincerely apologize. The focus was on creating colorful masks and our designers were researching masks from all various cultures. We were not producing character designs referenced on any real African and/or Afro-American human tribes. The design intention was to create characters who are protectors/guardians of a particular mystic region in the world of Little Devil Inside. However, these characters have not been revealed publicly elsewhere prior to the event. In addition, no one (not just limited to team members) has ever commented or hinted on the character designs. "Racist stereotypes of any kind were absolutely not intended, we were not aware of the stereotypical connotations and wish to apologize to anyone who may have been offended by the character design. Here's their statement detailing the adjustments they'll be doing to make things right: Neostream have taken note, however, and said if they can't fix the designs, they may just change them entirely. These character designs caught the eyes of a few Twitter users over the weekend, who pointed out that the tribal characters look like racist caricatures of indigenous tribes. Some viewers were quick to call out the devs at Neostream on it though, and now they've made an apology, promising to fix it. Unfortunately, a couple of scenes in its reveal trailer showed some characters that the creators have acknowledged look like "racist stereotypes". ![]() At Sony's PS5 showcase last week, we got another look at Little Devil Inside, an upcoming action-adventure RPG about a little dude investigating monsters for his eccentric boss. ![]() TheyĪdvertise that this bag can convert from a backpack to a duffel bag, by stowing I was surprised to find that this bag doesn’t come with aĬross-body shoulder strap, or any loops or clips on the bag to attaching one. There are a number of different things that cause bottom of foot pain, and pain under the foot arch is common in athletes, particularly those who like to push themselves to their limit. There may also be lumps and bumps underneath the foot. Weakness and tightness in the foot muscles changes how the forces go through the feet and up the legs so foot arch pain is often associated with back and knee pain too. This is because the muscles and tendons that support the foot arches have to work hard to stabilise the foot and can quickly fatigue resulting in pain on the bottom of the foot.
